The past week has been manic. I took 8 5×4 Portra 400 negatives into Metro Imaging a week ago Tuesday for drum scanning having failed to get the right colour reproduction on inkjet media at UCS. Whether this failure was due to me or the multiple layers of technology that these superb quality negatives then went through to transition from analogue to digital inkjet that took 50 minutes to print each copy I do not know. I was advised that detail lost in scanning on both Hasselblad Imacon scanners or my own Epson V750 would be brought to life by the magicians at Metro. And so it was. I went down there this Tuesday to sit with one of their digital printing technicians and I was blown away by the data retrieved from the negatives that I never knew was present. Equally impressive was the fact that the test prints nearly got delivered before I got home.

I’ve re-worked colour balance etc and I expect another tube of tests today. I am sweating on time now to get the finals to Lamden in Ipswich for framing so I’m hoping that these tests will be conclusive.

My medium format work has all been printed and controlled by me. Those pieces are currently being framed and they are my degree assessment pieces and they will be ready next week.

I can hardly speak this morning following the schmoozing at the VIP opening of DIG! in Kerseys In Lloyds Avenue Ipswich and a public meeting at the church of St Clement that is being converted to an Arts Centre. It is all happening in Ipswich.

The Lux Locus Spectatculo exhibition that I organised and curated closes in Ipswich Town Hall on Saturday so if you have not seen it yet then please pop in and take a look at emerging photographic talent coming out of UCS.
