There’s nothing like a change of focus to get the creativity juices flowing

Sometimes I force myself to look at something other than my ongoing long term projects. I do this to ensure I look at and see other things. It also tests my knowledge and skills using various cameras and processing techniques.

Only last night I saw two Short Eared Owls quartering at dusk and that was a joy indeed. I have photographed Barn Owls in the past and just as with Kingfishers it is all about understanding them and how they  behave. Last night was just a joy just to see though. I had clocked one earlier in the day being mobbed by a gaggle of corvids. Seeing the pair later was a treat. It was one of those special moments where no camera was  required.

Anyway, with all this wintery Spring weather, my mind turned to warmer things to do and what better than shooting a bunch of tulips (indoors) in a delightfully fat, almost Rubenesque jug, wide open, available lighting and hand held?

Jug of tulips

My intent was actually Lyrid meteor showers but a full moon and dropping mercury and stiff breeze put paid to that idea!
