The Turning Gate – CE4 plugins for Lightroom

I have been a bit dull these last few weeks as I crawl out of the post-university U-bend. I think I have just about cracked the barking like a dog syndrome and the last cold sores subsided some two weeks back so fingers crossed!

In the meantime apart from trying to re-ignite my ACE application – see earlier post, I applied myself to re-working the website. I bought into the Turning Gate plugins with the CE2 versions as I was fed up with the direct URL approach of the Lightroom Web module. It was becoming tiresome to manage my rudimentary site. One thing I also wanted was an integrated Blog that looked like it was seamless fitting in with style sheets and overall look and feel and this is where TTG turned up trumps. I’ve worked through CE3 where I was introduced to the joys of Publisher and then a few weeks ago CE4 was launched. I’m never the first adopter of new releases as there are usually a few niggles that get ironed out by the more switched on tech and web savvy guys.

Well, I’m here now – done and dusted for the moment but not without the help of Rod Barbee, Daniel Leu and Lofty on the forum who have helped me out on what is essentially a non-TTG issue. Cookie Law Compliance was the issue. i wanted to implement a solution that complied with this legislation without too much of an overhead. I started with the Blog as WordPress has a way of its own and plugins were available. I found one that was configurable through the admin functions in WordPress and then tried to implement it across my TTG pages. This is where the chaps on the Forum helped out. I don’t fiddle with bits that work and this implementation meant I had to lift the bonnet as it where and peer into the engine room. With all the help I was given it was little more than topping up the washer bottle in the end. I’m still not 100% sure of what to do with HTML and CSS and I think there will come a time when I must sit down and work through some training material with someone who knows how to teach the subject. That time is not now as I need to move on with things photographic, but I will explore the use of CE4 Stage piece by piece to see what else it can unleash in this powerhouse.

The season seems to be changing  even though it might be just a storm in a tea cup but before I know it my preferred climatic and foliar conditions will be upon us proper. The D3S has had a good clean and I have checked over the Zenza Bronica. The two Toyos will need a check over then it will be time to erect the darkroom tent to ease the loading of dark slides and tanks.
