Cuculus Prospectus

I recently photographed the private view for Clair Chinnery’s Solo exhibition at UCS Waterfront gallery.

On loan from Colchester & Ipswich Museums was a stuffed Cuckoo. When Clair spoke about the chameleon-like manner in which the species Cuculus imitates the host bird’s egg size and colouring I could not help but notice how the lighting in the gallery cast a number of different shadows on the exhibit loaned by  Ipswich Museum for the duration of the show. The shadows somehow mimic the the ability of Cuculus to create something that ought not to be in the host bird’s nest.
