Last week was a hectic week. A thoroughly dull and wet bank Holiday saw me erecting my blow up Nova darkroom tent and cleaning and loading dark slides for 37 sheets of film – yes one odd sheet. I also serviced my Toyo 45A as I last used it in March and it is surprising how quickly these old cameras seize upĀ but several Polaroids (Fuji 100C) later and all was working OK ready for a few landscape shots a few hundred miles away from here.
I also oiled the chain on my push bike whilst I was at it and what a difference that has made – regular speedy Gonzalez now.
On Wednesday I trogged into London to see Metro about printing on their DTM printer for a forthcoming exhibition – oiling of different wheels here and then off to LCC to collect my TW2014 rejects (entered into the Salon des Refuses), took in the Imperial War Museum and Mark Neville’s incredibly powerful Helmand work but what dreadful punters – no respect for anyone looking at a piece – just barge in front and ignore the old git who waited patiently to read the blurb whilst others were in front.. I just had to leave and this was stunning work.
The Photographer’s Gallery was interesting and then off to Spitalfields to photograph the ever changing ‘street art’ and then a slap up supper at Hawksmoor courtesy of my second best friend (after my wife) and then back to Ipswich by 0100 on better oiled wheels than in the morning on a delayed Greater Anglia Intercity (eventually pace). A 20 hour day exhausted, replete, Sudoku done and some great photography and photographic services taken in plus of course that superb Porterhouse shared with Jan.
Well oiled.
