I walked for over 5 hours this morning

I have been preoccupied of late with getting my second attempt at funding for my extended Edgelands project into the system plus a financial year end and getting to grips with society group protocols at the RPS.

We were warned of a weather bomb heading our way and yesterday on my morning constitutional I noticed a dumped cash register in the Gipping at low water. This morning I decided to hoof it rather that bike it and yomp with a heavy photo bag on my back to get ahead of the storm and make an image of the dumped till- presumably cast adrift following a robbery.

As it is with these things the tide had not ebbed as much as I needed so I documented aspects of the dock and Gipping navigation that can only be done at this time of year. It was certainly very much warmer than yesterday but by the time I got home after rendezvousing for coffee on the Dock with Mrs O and a visit into the Christmas Tree show in St Mary-le-Tower Church , I was all done in. A 40 minute cycle ride had transformed itself into  a 5 hour walk!

I see all all sorts of things whilst I am out and I’d like to think I still have the enthusiasm of a 12 year old. No doubt some of my University chums would say I never grew out of that age. The day I start becoming numb to the delights in what is around me is the day to give up.

This morning’s delights included a syringe in a space obviously frequented by drug addicts, padlocked access to West Bank and of course a church full of Christmas trees that even delighted me, someone known to be curmudgeonly about Christmas.
