Yesterday was a typically grim Easter Saturday. The afternoon brightened up somewhat not least of which was down to another opening of a new monthly exhibition at The Freudian Sheep . I got to know one of the proprietors whilst at UCS. Mossy was a Fine Art student, I a photography student. Since he and his partner Eleanor May opened ‘The Sheep’ I have been a regular exhibitor of my photography there. This time I departed from standard and entered 3 abstract paintings made in June 2009 at my sister’s place in the South of France.

I like being part of an artist collective for the very reason that I can see and talk about art with other artists with a total lack of pretension. We are all expressing ourselves with our chosen media and the energy that it gives me is immense. I was unprepared for the complimentary comments about my painting though and I was humbled by the praise given their own vastly superior styles. I may get some canvasses out soon and start splashing some paint about once the Edgelands exhibition is edited and work is at the framing gallery.
Talking of galleries, I walked past MF Frames on my way to The Freudian Sheep yesterday. Owen Berry is the new owner of this gallery and he approached me shortly after he took over and asked to display some of my work in his window. This display will be in place for all of April. He framed the two Felixstowe prints, one of which was made on the D810 and the other on large format Kodak film.

I have got to know Owen over the years from working at Lamden Gallery. Lamden framed my big stuff for Edgelands that have been exhibited in London and will hang at The Museum of East Anglian Life from July this year.
