Last week we were away. Mrs O had booked us into a holiday let in Southwold. In a sense, it was winding back three and a half years to September 2011 when we holidayed there but I was in Freshers week and only kipped there and had my tea most nights (I had to stay at home for 2 nights!), the holiday having been planned, University not planned. Different time of year I admit but we do try and stay there out of season. I can’t stand being in crowds of grockles and although one might well be in Cornwall or even a foreign country it is just 35 miles up the road so I don’t classify myself as a grockle.
Anyway, I don’t know how many times I have taken a picture of the entrance to this model boat pond and cafe
I expect Martin Parr took his image way before I ever did and in his day, they were not so gauche as to paint TEA ROOM on the slates. Sunny – yes. Windy – yes. Cold – yes. Bad Weather – no.
I trudged along here several days during the week to plod along the fossil beach of Easton Bavents. Having wondered at the strata as I mentioned last week I turned my eyes to items on the beach. The following had the name Edward Weston ringing in my ears as I made them. I could see that B&W was going to be an outcome despite the glorious colour.
Just goes to show that someone else has usually made the same work years before we each stumble on it.
Some of these images were made on subsequent days after 2 or 3 tides.
