For some while now, since 2012 in fact, I have been using the Turning Gate Plugins for Lightroom to create my photo site and album pages. It has to be said that even with all the functionality that Matt and Ben built into these plugins, one had to be at the interface on a regular basis to weave around the complexities of using the Web publishing tools in Lightroom, and in my case remember what and how I had done something.
Once the pages were built, I left them alone and kept up to date via the blog. One of the features that was built in by TTG was the blog feature using WordPress. The plugin made use of the menus and style sheets of the rest of the site making the blog fit seamlessly.
Times have moved on and so have the Turning Gate. They have created a new product that sits outside of Lightroom to create the structure of the site making the reliance on Lightroom a simple one of publishing Album sets and albums. The speed with which one can develop and test the changes is light years ahead of the slow churn that took place in Lightoom.
The WordPress plugin is not yet available and I have a few technical issues to sort out on the webserver but to all intents , what you are reading now is a temporary blog layout with the main site flitting between the test and live environments whilst I settle things down.
Should you experience any issues with the new site, please get in touch via the contact form. In the meantime please have a wander around it and let me know what you think.
