I have previously mentioned my commuting days and recently posted a gallery of my Old Buffers. Well, last night I was up in town for the first 2017 meeting of The Rooftop Collective and as is my want and indeed the learned practice of getting the train before the train that gets me in on time I found myself kicking my heels appropriately as it turned out between Embankment and the Strand.
We were due to meet up at the RSA. I had always thought this was a building associated with The Republic of South Africa but no, it is the Royal Society for the Arts.
Apart from my buffers at Ipswich, there is a certain emotion associated with passing through termini, be it the architecture of the cathedral-like structures or something about the environs. One such environs that always attracts me is the seemingly ever present flower stall outside Embankment Tube station. I am a sucker for flower stalls and vegetable stalls for that matter insofar as the efforts that go into staging these daily shows. One thing for certain though is the time of day for these ‘objet d’arts’. For me they have a theatrical look and feel in the twilight or penumbra before it is fully dark.
I took a small monopod with me last night anticipating an opportunity and I was not disappointed.

With more time to kill I stood in the Strand and watched a seemingly motionless line of red buses then noticed Kinky Boots at the Adelphi and a line of legs on a bus. London never stays still despite the line of buses…

Oh, and I did photograph the old buffers on my way in.
