Changing seasons and Ways with Words

First let me warn all my readers that the exhibition space Abbot’s Hall where Edgelands is showing is now on low season opening times. That is Tuesday-Saturday. Note NOT SUNDAY.

We spent a few days in Southwold for the Ways with Words event and boy, was it wet and windy affair or what. That is the weather I’m talking about.

Mrs O is the one attracted to these events but I like going to the town out of season. I hate the place when it is full of grockles which, it has to be said was pointed out to me that I was one of those grockles on Friday evening by a newish resisident to the area. That newish resident was someome I used to work with that I had not seen since April 1998. Funny how literary events are like sliding doors where people come out of the woodwork from all over the place. With said observer was also an ex system owner from the same era. Like ships that pass in the night we went on our separate ways.

Visitors (grockles) can eat well from the Two Magpies bakery – brownies to die for and dangerous bread straight from the ovens plus Enzo’s Pizzeria ( be prepared for loads of football stuff especially Fulham).

There was quite a decent view to the East, South and West from the living room in the apartment we had rented but I swear I did not see any evidence of sunlight of any useable wavelength until late, very late on on Saturday.

I trundled across country on Sunday to meet people who had driven down from Wakefield to see my exhibition at Stowmarket which is how I found out that the Abbot’s Hall was shut. I had packed the Zenza Bronica SQAi in the hope that I would explore new Edgelands on the way over. Sadly, despite a good drive, there was not any inclination on my part to waste any emulsion.  By the time I made the return trip it was pitch black. As these things go, it was obvious that this morning would dawn well if not windy and sure enough the view from ‘The View’ came into it’s own.

I would not have been able to get one of my cameras into the narrow window opening for this shot so all three are from the iPhone. The old saying came true though – Red sky in the morning….”

It has been grim since then.
