Festivals everyhere and more

Where did last week go?

Monday saw me and two other reprobates  being photographed by renowned local photographer Chris Myhill.

Chris had come to our rescue and made group and single portraits of us for our forthcoming exhibition – Contradictions

Note the haircut. I had it freshly done for the shoot which was just as well given it was a tad blustery.

Tuesday saw me trooping off to the smoke to present my portfolio to a collective meeting Metro Imaging. Such is the way with haircuts that neither Jack Quick nor I recognised each other!

I have been using The Turning Gate plugins for Lightroom for some time now for this photo site and they have just started the extraction process from being embedded to the Web publishing module in Lightroom by delivering a new tool called Backlight. Normally I hold back on first releases but I bit the bullet and bought the upgrade so I spent several days getting used to the very quick and powerful back end tool that is so much better than the previous incarnations of Core Elements in that I can get instant feedback on design changes. It has made me re-think content and how I display it but it has also highlighted environment issues with my ISP. I never cease to wonder at the speed that an on-line forum reacts at compared to a paid for service located on this island. People whom I don’t know physically are very free with their time and supportive advice. If you are thinking of re-working a photo site then try out The Turning Gate

You cannot download a demo version but at £77 it is a very powerful basic starting pack. I am testing new designs presently and will await the extra modules of integrated blog and commerce before going live with it.

Photoeast opens next week as does the Degree show for photography students at UCS soon to be US (University of Suffolk) following Privy Council approval,. We open on 27th and then last night a flyer dropped through our letterbox with a Fotofest literally on my doorstep on 28th and 29th May. Check out Ginnel Foto Festival .

Oh, and I nearly forgot, I managed to paint the soil stack, a job I have been putting off for a while.
