Reading The Unofficial Countryside and Edgelands there was a constant undercurrent of the wildlife observed . Something I did an awful lot of during my pre-degree photography era was wildlife photography. I am no bird watcher or twitcher, I just like to photograph what I see. Last night whilst re-visiting some of my Edgelands sites I was not wholly surprised to find a charm of Goldfinches feasting on thistle seeds. I had visited to see what a mid-summer evening tableau would present. These little birds are a delight. The scene had changed in content but not in shape. What was verdant in March is now as brown as the tilled earth.
