I have never been a fan of ‘The Mill’ on Ipswich Waterfront. It has proved to be useful as a photographic subject but the building sits uneasily in its surroundings and add to that the fact that it is unoccupied it is hardly a real asset for Ipswich.
I was surprised to see on-line footage of the building crumbling in moderate to strong gusts today. What would it have been like if the wind had been like that of October 16/17 1987? We lost half our roof that night and a tree plus a garden wall. Everything intact this time around. Mother nature has shown this building up for the sham that it is. How long before it all comes down?
