Photojournalism Scum

I am no pugilist. I cannot understand how two people can go into a ring and knock seven bells out of each other in the name of sport but I am told it is character building and that seems to be the case with Kellie Maloney whose name and photographs have been plastered over the […]

Edgelands – transitioning

I made a recce to Cattawade in the middle of the day today. It was raining cats and dogs and I ‘d prudently packed the D3S as I don’t much like the Bronica or the Toyos getting drenched. I was curious to see the lay of the land as this season draws to a close […]

Halcyon days – good omens

I have been fighting to get fit in this post-university period. I was run down physically and mentally from the final few months at UCS and to start with I had to just sit back and take a rest. People who know me know that resting for me is doing something. I am no idler […]

The Turning Gate – CE4 plugins for Lightroom

I have been a bit dull these last few weeks as I crawl out of the post-university U-bend. I think I have just about cracked the barking like a dog syndrome and the last cold sores subsided some two weeks back so fingers crossed! In the meantime apart from trying to re-ignite my ACE application […]

Salon des Refusés

For the third year running I received the Dear Jackie/John email from The NPG National Portrait competition. I doubt I shall bother entering again. I realised in the first submission that I was paying my share of the ‘crowd funding’  to pay off the prize winners. I was singularly unimpressed with the selection last year […]

Edgelands – Collaboration – the way forward

Out of adversity comes opportunity. Recently, a gallery I was after securing to include in my ACE application got  knocked back. I decided to ask for the help of the arts liaison officer from Suffolk County Council for galleries that were big enough to hang my work. I got a very good reply with several […]

ARPS

This arrived in the post(email) today. In 1971 I used to write out to ARPS and FRPS judges arranging competitions for the Crosby Camera Club. In those days I was (obviously) a callow youth and I set myself a goal of getting at least an ARPS when I was grown up. Well, I have […]

The Freudian Sheep

I am a member of the Freudian Sheep artist group in Ipswich. Ian Moss and Eleanor May run this delightful establishment in St Helens Street, Ipswich. Each month there is a fresh exhibition of work in the gallery with open views taking place on the Saturday. We are quite an eclectic group and a […]

Galleries up and running

Thanks to the very patient and helpful Rod Barbee on the Turning Gate forum I have cleared up my mental blockage on publishing to nested galleries. I am now using album sets and Albums. I think it will make things easier for visitors to navigate.
